Is it spring yet?

We're all stuck inside with either ice or snow; dreaming of 70 degrees, fresh dirt, and the smell of race gas.  Ah, hurry up spring!

PBP has been busy this winter working on new products and posters for the 2011 season.  Our 12 month calendars are available now.  By the way, we can start your calendar with any month you choose.  Might be a bit odd, but it works!  License plates, coffee mugs, travel mugs, and can koozies are ready to order too.  Laptop covers and sticker sheets coming soon.

What's new elsewhere:

We hear that Lincoln Trail will be giving night races a try this season.  I'll do my best to get as many pictures as I can before it gets too dark.  Normally I can get in all the first moto if things keep moving pretty well.  LTM also scored a Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier!  See you there April 2-3.

Sad, but true, Sweet 16 MX is no more.  Baer Field has decided to level the MX track and change to kart racing.  Tough break for many who practiced there on Wednesdays during the sesaon.

MXPTV will be giving some awesome exposure to area riders via the "Mid-West Tour".  Ben Lynn has several riders featured in promo commercials now running on the MotoExposure web site.

June will once again have me in complete awe of some of the finest bikes to hit the track.  AHRMA Vintage/Post Vintage MX!  If you haven't had the chance to see a vintage race then mark you calendar for June 25-26th at Lincoln Trail MX.  Bultaco, Penton, Hodaka, Triumph, Montesa and Maico to name a few.  Of course some Suzuki, Honda, and Kawi in there also.  Just remember to bring along the ear plugs;)

Dang, it's still snowing and blowing.  Click your heals together 3 times and say, "There's no place like the track......there's no place like the track......there's no place like the track......"  Shoot!  Where's that Good Witch when ya need her?  Oh yea, she's burried in a snow drift in Kansas.

.........see you in abut 6 weeks!

Mick.....you asked for it, so here ya go!

I know you were teasing, but Spyke's seems to be the place for KTM around here.  Reads tracks are a sea of orange somedays.  Thanks to Spyke's for their valued support of many area racers!

Sweet 16/Round 2 State Race

A few from Sweet 16.

I'd wave back, but a little busy;)

Brogan Guyer has a rough couple days.  I hope he's doing ok.
Paden Hudson has improved a great deal this season.  Keep an eye on this young rider.

I want to thank the staff at Reads Racing for allowing me to photograph all of you.  It has been a pleasure.  My schedule has me in Illinois and southern Indiana the rest of the season.  I will see you all again next spring.

A little primer on how things work for us.....

I spent this past weekend checking out a couple tracks and watching races.   See below for a few shots from the AHRMA National at Log Road MX and I may add in a few from Badlands Off Road Park later this week.  Please be aware that none of these pictures are for sale.

Why?  I must have permission from the track owner or promoter (sometimes both); whichever the case may be.  Many people assume that you can just show up at a track or any other sporting event, take and sell pictures.  Not the case.  Take all the pictures you want, but not for profit unless you have been cleared by management.  It is private property even though a public event.  This is even trickier ground when doing school sports (especially college level), but I won't get into that here.

Some tracks/series contract with photographers to cover all or most of their events.  I will not even think of trying to undermine another photographers contract!  Don't want someone doing that to me and I won't stoop to that level.  Will I pitch my services to the owner and try to generate future business?  Heck yeah.  I like to eat just like eveyones else reading this.  I will not however post pictures for sale knowing that another photographer has exclusive rights to cover that event or the owner/promoter has denied me permission.

So, just remember when you see me out at a new track you may not be able to purchase those pictures from me.
